Today’s Verse: Leviticus 10:3

Saturday, October 3, 2020

Moses then said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD spoke of when he said: “‘Among those who approach me I will show myself holy; in the sight of all the people I will be honored.’” Aaron remained silent.

Leviticus 10:3

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

God’s holiness is unapproachable except through the gift of his grace. When we disregard God’s holiness, we profane what is precious and sacred. God will be known and shown as holy; if not by his people, then by his action. Let’s take our worship of God seriously, honoring him with our reverence and awe (Hebrews 12:28-29). But, let’s not confine worship to only what we do in church. Let’s realize that all of our life is worship (Romans 12:1-2) and live out our lives with a commitment to be holy in all we do (1 Peter 1:15-16) — in both the worship with our lips and the worship with our lives (Hebrews 13:15-16).

My Prayer…

Almighty and Most High God, holy and perfect in righteousness, forgive me for my sins. Cleanse me and make me holy by the transforming and sanctifying power of your Holy Spirit. May my life be lived as a holy sacrifice to you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Praying with Paul: ‘God’s Honor’  – by Eldon Degge

Read Romans 1:18-23

Then  Pray Paul

Dear Father, to whom all honor and glory is due,

How sorry I am that men do not honor you as their God and King! It is to their loss and to their hurt, but it insults you! They wickedly suppress the truth. Through creation, you have shown them plainly what can be known about you, so they are without excuse. Although they know of you, the true God, they do not honor you as God or give thanks to you as God. Their thinking is futile and their senseless minds are darkened. Claiming to be wise, they become fools and exchange your glory, the glory of the immortal God, for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles.

How awful is your judgment! Because they exchange the truth about you for a lie and worship and serve the creature rather than you, the Creator, the holy God, who is blessed for ever, you give them up to the lusts of their impure hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves.

May I never be so foolish as to trade your glory for my own. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, creator and sustainer of the universe. Amen.
