Weekly News Letter

For GCI Churches in Central Indiana From Pastor David ~ November 18, 2018

From Pastor David

The marvelous season and day of Thanksgiving – a special day of Giving our gracious God Thanks – is upon us. Jonnie and I pray that this season of Thanksgiving will be a spiritual blessing for you as you take time to walk and talk with your friend & your God…Who, as Father, Son & Spirit, has blessed you and me with every spiritual blessing you could ever need or imagine. Let me remind you of two scriptures as you ponder how you will Celebrate the Lord’s Abundant Goodness and Grace in your life.

Psalm 116:11-13 – What shall I return to the LORD for all His goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the Name of the LORD Psalm 145:7 – They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness

The holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas find relatives, friends and family gathering to celebrate and enjoy times together. But we all have family and friends and relatives whom we haven’t seen for a while, and just aren’t able to gather with on these special days. I suggest that, as a follower of Jesus Christ, you reach out to them via email, text, Facebook, phone calls, or by US Mail…letting them know how thankful you are that they have been and are in your life…thanking God for them and letting them know how much you love them and how much the Lord loves them. Don’t let precious friendships go by the wayside. Who knows, as you reach out to share a little of Jesus’ life and love with them, you may receive some of His life and love back. You also might find an opportunity to touch others for Jesus.

As you do this, don’t forget about your beloved Church family…those who have been with you for many years…helping and encouraging you along your spiritual journey of life. The Apostle Paul, when thinking of the church members who touched his life, said that he thanked God every time he remembered them. So should we, through prayer, email, cards and personal greetings.

The Gift God Has Given You

by Max Lucado

A cynic asked an elderly woman about the security of her salvation. He said, “How can you be so sure that after all these years God won’t let you sink into hell?” Her answer: “He would lose more than I would. All I would lose would be my own soul, but He would lose his good name.”

What a gift God has given to you! You’ve won the greatest lottery in the history of humanity, and you didn’t even pay for the ticket. Your soul is secure, your salvation guaranteed. Your name is written in the only book that matters. This is the message of God, the promise of grace. The Bible says “there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ” (Romans 8:1).
